Lawsuit filed against makers of hip replacement device

Five Chicago area patients are suing the maker of an artificial hip implant device.

The patients accuse DePuy Orthopedics of ignoring evidence the device was flawed and moving too slowly to recall it. Wear and tear within the artificial joint allegedly released dangerous cobalt and chromium ions into the bloodstream.

Arno Rasho’s wife is in the hospital now getting her implant device removed.

“She can’t walk. She can’t do anything. (She’s) in deep pain. I have two children. I have to take care of them take care of her,” said Rasho.
