The Law Office of Jeffrey Friedman, P.C. recently settled a workers’ compensation case for a 52-year old truck driver who injured his back while moving granite slabs that he was transporting. The truck driver initially was denied any benefits for the injury, but after a 19(b) petition hearing, the Law Office of Jeffrey Friedman, P.C. was successful in initiating the client’s workers’ compensation benefits, including obtaining payment of all previously unpaid benefits that were due.
The workers’ compensation case continued for another two years, with the client undergoing two back surgeries and remaining off work. Throughout this time, all of his medical treatment was paid by the workers’ compensation carrier and the client received regular weekly payments (temporary total disability—TTD) while he remained off work.
The Law Office of Jeffrey Friedman, P.C. successfully resolved the case for $500,000, representing the wages that the client could not earn in the future as a result of his injury. The settlement also included approximately $9,200 in Medicare Set-Aside Funds should the client need additional treatment in the future.
