In both cases, the children ended up with broken legs, Chicago's WLS-TV reports. Separate lawsuits by the injured kids' parents blame workers at the indoor trampoline centers for causing the injuries. The suing parents likely signed liability waivers before their children took to the trampolines. But do those waivers cover the types of injuries the lawsuits are alleging? U of C Agrees to $10 Million Settlement in James Tyree Death

U of C signed the settlement without admitting fault, even though the suit claimed negligence The family of former Sun-Times publisher and Chicago Businessman James Tyree has reportedly agreed to a $10 million settlement with the University of Chicago medical center over a wrongful death suit, according to reports. The 53-year-old died accidentally last year after a dialysis procedure created a fatal air-embolism created when a catheter was removed. Pneumonia and metastatic stomach cancer were listed as secondary causes of death, according to the Medical Examiner. Widower Says Texting Driver Killed His Wife

By GLYNIS FARRELL WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CN) - A lumber truck driver killed a woman by running a stop sign as he texted while driving, the woman's husband says. Alexander Lumber Co. employee Kenneth Englert broadsided the late Patricia McNamara's car on Sept. 30 "while using a telephone and/or texting," McNamara's husband says. Kevin McNamara sued Englert and Alexander Lumber in McHenry County Court. CN to pay Illinois family US$36M to settle lawsuits

The Canadian Press MONTREAL — Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR) has agreed to pay an Illinois family more than US$36 million to settle two negligence lawsuits filed after a fiery 2009 derailment led to a woman's death. Zoila Tellez, 44, died after a train containing 7.6 million litres of ethanol derailed at a washout and caused a massive explosion in which flames engulfed their vehicle at a crossing. Her husband, Jose, and the couple's 19-year-old pregnant daughter, Adriana, escaped, but both were injured in the June 2009 incident.
